The Event will be a two-day event that will take place between the Historic Center of the village of Bari Sardo and the seaside area, with a food and wine character, centered on a product of the local tradition, culurgione (a typical dish consisting of a puff pastry stuffed with potatoes, pecorino cheese and mint, closed like a bag and sewn by hand with a spike decoration), to reconnect those living abroad with the true and genuine flavors of a land of purely poor and agricultural tradition.

For more than 20 years, the culurgiones festival has constituted an event that takes place in August and is a strong attraction for tourists and the Baroise emigrants themselves. Culurgiones produced in Ogliastra were awarded the prestigious PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) mark in 2015. The two-day event will include experiential workshops for children and adults, tastings, show cooking, stands of local producers of the culurgione supply chain (producers of cheeses, potatoes, flours), proposition of themed menus at local agritourisms and restaurants, with a side dish of exhibitions, folk shows and performances by local choirs, exhibition of typical clothes and artifacts of the typical Bari Sardo tradition, performances and guided tours at the main monuments and characteristic places to rediscover the territory they belong to. At the same time, an online contest will kick off through institutional social media, also open to Barisians abroad, dedicated to recovering and sharing vintage photos related to the territory and daily life of our ancestors. An initiative centered on the idea of capturing and preserving images of the past, thus helping to keep local memory and tradition alive, with selection of the winning photos at Christmas 2024.
