“The Roots of Villanova-Mara” is an event dedicated to the rediscovery of Sardinian culture, its crafts and gastronomy, enlivened by the music and colors of traditional dances.
Activities dedicated to root tourists will be organized at this event that will make them feel an integral part of the local community.
- Craft workshop for mask making: tourists will be given the opportunity to create typical masks through wood carving.
- Handicraft workshop of reed and raffia weaving: tourists will learn the basics of making the Sardinian basket in the variants of the “canistreddu” and the ” corbula,” learn about the main materials of the workmanship and the history of this fundamental tool in the Sardinian daily life of the past, especially in the village of Mara whose territory is historically devoted to the cultivation of wheat.
- Working Holidays: there will be 2 working holidays proposed, one in the village bakery that will open its workshop to teach the art of traditional baking and one on the farms of Mr. Giovanni Campus and Mr. Salvatore Rosas that will allow root tourists to rediscover the centuries-old craft of sheep farming.
- Inclusive urban trekking (with citizens and root tourists) : the trek will not only tell the story of Mara’s architectural heritage, but also highlight properties for sale, as an investment opportunity.
In fact, Mara is set in an unspoiled naturalistic context offering itself as an ideal place for those who feel like rethinking their daily lives.
