The journey winds through a fascinating itinerary that embraces the rich local history and culture, through its stops in Cagliari, San Sperate and Assemini, offering a complete experience of local art and crafts.

You will also have the opportunity to visit one of the main monumental cemeteries of the island, also discovering where the illustrious people who lived in Sardinia rest.

Cagliari: the city of art

Cagliari, the capital of Sardinia, is a city rich in history and culture. The city is home to numerous museums, art galleries, and monuments, which are a testament to the island’s rich tradition.

Among the most important museums in Cagliari are the National Archaeological Museum, which houses a rich collection of archaeological finds from all over the island, and the Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art, which houses a collection of works by Sardinian and international artists.

The art of Pinuccio Sciola
Pinuccio Sciola is one of the most important Sardinian sculptors of the twentieth century. His works, made of stone, are characterized by a strong expressive charge and attention to form and sound.
Sciola was born in San Sperate in 1942. He began sculpting from an early age and in 1959 he participated, as a self-taught artist, in the I Figurative Arts Exhibition for students of all levels in the La Rinascente club in Cagliari, winning a scholarship that allowed him to attend the Liceo Artistico in Cagliari.
Over the course of his career, Sciola has exhibited his works in numerous group and solo exhibitions in Italy and abroad. She has received numerous awards, including the 2015 Donna del Marmo Award and the Beato Angelico Medal in 2016.

The Sound Garden
The Giardino Sonoro is an open-air museum located in San Sperate. It was created by Pinuccio Sciola in the 1960s and houses a collection of stone sculptures that produce evocative sounds when touched.
The sculptures of the Sound Garden are made of basalt and limestone, two materials that have different acoustic properties. Basalt, which is harder, produces deeper, lower sounds, while limestone, which is softer, produces higher pitched and higher sounds.
The Sound Garden is a magical and evocative place, which invites visitors to immerse themselves in nature and music.

Assemini: the city of ceramics

Assemini is a town in Sardinia known for the production of ceramics which, with its very ancient origins, dates back to the Nuragic period.
Today Assemini is an important centre of Sardinian ceramic production. Here you can find numerous artisan workshops that produce high-quality ceramics, both traditional and modern.Assemini’s ceramics are appreciated all over the world, and are used to make everyday objects, objets d’art and decorations.

Guided by the music that only Pinuccio Sciola’s works can bestow and accompanied by the scent of the fire that carries the stories of the stones skyward, you will savor the delights of the land in the splendid setting of the sound garden.
The final night bonfire is a unique experience, allowing visitors to admire the megalithic works of the sound garden by moonlight.

The art of stone

Visiting an artisan workshop where stone is worked, along with other materials, is an excellent opportunity to learn about local craftsmanship-an ancient tradition that is still alive in Sardinia. The workshop you will visit houses a collection of stone works made using traditional techniques, including sculptures, everyday objects and jewelry.

Assemini

In Assemini, you can visit pottery workshops and stores. The town is known for its pottery production, which has very ancient origins and has been handed down for generations.
