Aimed at root tourists, “The Roots of Villanova-Padria” is an event dedicated to the rediscovery of Sardinian culture, its poetry and language, enlivened by the music and colors of traditional dances.
The Event “The Roots of Villanova-Padria” is integrated into the broader event called “The Roots of Villanova” and coordinated by the Union of Villanova Municipalities, will take place in July and August 2024 during the Padriese Summer and the Sardinian Poetry Prize “Gurulis Vetus.” Dedicated to Padri poet Gavino de Lunas, the Sardinian Poetry Prize this year will establish a special award dedicated to the theme of migration that emotionally involves both those who leave and those who remain.
During the event, root tourists will be able to participate in musical, folkloric and cultural events that will have as their main goal to raise awareness of the Sardinian territory, culture and language.
To this end, a series of dedicated activities will be implemented that will make root tourists feel an integral part of the community: a Sardinian language workshop with interactive activities that will illustrate the history of the village; a Working Holidays at a typical pastry shop that will open the doors of its workshop to those who feel like trying their hand at making traditional Sardinian and Padrian sweets; and an inclusive urban trek (with citizens and root tourists) that will not only tell the story of Padria’s architectural heritage, but also highlight properties for sale as an investment opportunity. Set in an unspoiled natural setting, Padria, with its 593 inhabitants, offers an ideal place for those who feel like rethinking their daily lives.
